The STAR Millenium Pathway makes a welcome addition to the common links between the three villages which have for many years been connected by the Great North Road (old A1), the East Coast Main Railway Line, the primary school, Churches and latterly by the free STAR (Scrooby Torworth And Ranskill) villages newsletter which is produced and distributed volountarily by local people to every household. Farming, Quarrying and small industries and businesses are the main local enterprises and employers. Legend has it that Dick Turpin stopped by on his travels along the Old North Road. Certainly the famous Pilgrim Father, William Brewster came from Scrooby. World War 2 brought the Royal Ordnance Factory to Ranskill and Torworth affecting life in the villages.

Wildlife in many varieties, can be seen along the Millenium Pathway, parts of which offers an accessible pathway for wheelchair users.

Ranskill, Torworth and Scrooby Parish Councils successfully joined in an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for money to develop in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council this STAR Millenium Pathway during the year 2000.
